I miss my prayer partner and friend. I always knew I could count on Mimi's loyalty, love and prayer support. Plus, she had this uncanny ability, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to speak just the right words at just the right time.
For example; after I had said yes to God's call to me to become a Priest, I was at Emmanuel for Good Friday and feeling very unworthy--sort of paralyzed by the awesome responisbility of being a priest in the Church. Mimi had no idea, because I had not verbalized these feelings, but she came over to me and just started praying. Don't you know, they were the EXACT words I needed to hear.
So like her to step in praying, loving and supporting in God's Spirit. So, dear ones, add me to the mourners and those celebrating a life wonderfully lived.
What I loved about Mimi was that she knew what I wanted to be loved for, and told me I was great at it--mostly being a mom, and creating a welcoming home. I admit she took me by surprise once saying as she sipped her Chardonnay, "I love seeing you work in the kitchen," ! but she also gave me a beautiful apron that makes me feel at home in my own home, which was what, as a working mom, I was afraid I would miss. The warm embrace of Mimi's love and acceptance was something special.
I think I'm doing so much better and then I see her face in a picture and wonder, where did you go? why did you leave me so soon? My second grandbaby is coming in three weeks, a baby girl, they are going to name her Jordyn Mimi Kogan. I hate it that all this is happening without her. She just loved all of us and especially babies, But her spirit is with me, causing me to be better, more like her, more like Jesus. Loving more, holding more tightly to all the loved ones, for her and for me.

Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I'm thinking about setting up my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? With thanks

Mimi's Bio
B October 26, 1935
D September 12, 2009
Mary Beresford Candee was born in Los Angeles to James and Florence Candee, and two sisters, Connie and Julie. The Candees lived on Tica drive, not far from Griffith Park. Mimi graduated from John Marshall High School and went on to nearby Occidental College. She had three children by her marriage to Herb Crockett.
Mimi reunited with her high school sweetheart, Roger Miller, and married him on March 30th, 1964. After moving to Whittier, California, they welcomed a new child, and began attending St. Matthias Episcopal Church, where they all grew together as a family. Mimi started the North Whittier Prayer Group which spawned the conversion and spiritual development of numerous Christians.
She loved the ocean, and enjoyed music, singing, tennis and reading. Vacations were spent swimming at La Jolla Shores beach, and fishing in Idaho. Mimi faithfully served as a Daughter of the King, Lector, Choir Member, Lay Eucharistic Minister, and a leader in the Curcillo movement.
About twenty years ago, she and Roger moved to Teakwood Ave. in La Habra, attending Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where they joyfully celebrated life in God’s presence. Roger and Mimi were blessed with forty-five years of marriage.
Mimi was a loving mother and an inspiration to all her grandchildren. Her capacity to give love and empathy through the grace of God knew no bounds. She was loved by many in return, and we can be certain that she is thriving in eternity.
